I've done a hell of a lot since last week, or at least it feels that way. I've got to say the first week of third year was definintely stressful and I was slightly lost on what I was doing, however after some great feedback from Casto and my friends I'm way more on track.
So last week I explained the project I was currently working on and what I'd done. This week I spent a good amount of time finalising the main villain character. After talking to Casto he made the really valid comment of clothing for the main villain which was wearing long robes that didnt have a strong silhouette and didn't really express the character well, I decided to take a different route and change the character's wardrobe to something more interesting. When changing the clothing I also worked on colour palette as I knew that was very important.
Here are the first few iterations on design and colour palette.

I chose the top middle iteration as I feel like that is the strongest colour palette. I showed my friends too who also agreed on the top middle. I knew that the character needed even more work though so after deciding on that design I changed a few things, I made the cloth on his front longer and his clothes damaged and burnt, I also added some more bones, skulls and blood spatters so he seemed more dangerous and evil.

This is my final iteration and I feel as if this is a much stronger character. The last thing to do on this character is to paint it in Leyendecker's style and make some promotional artwork from it. I'm actaully really looking forward to that stage as I don't usually try to paint in other peoples styles.
Before I can do that however I need to create and iterate the other characters. There are six other characters... 3 villager characters which are NPC's but are important to the main character, the little girl. The last 3 characters are some minor villains.
Below is the first inital ideation I did. It's very simple however it gave me some good ideas for the villain characters.

From these simple line drawings I added some clothing and weapons and got straight into working on the colour palette. I have one female villain and two male (not including the main villain) Here are some inital designs.

The red dots mark the designs that were best and that I feel are stonger. At this stage they are very simple and the next stage I added to the design.
For each of the marked designs I then iterated on each one with colour palette and silhouette. The female character is one of my favourites as the colour scheme is coordinated and works well with the main villain.

I marked two designs down as both worked well and the feedback I got was good for both of them. However I have decided on the bottom middle design as it's more interesting and I can improve the silhouette in the next stage.
The first male villain is meant to be a rather bulky fighter however I feel as if I need to push the silhouette more, which I will do in the week coming up as I have only just decided on the colour palette design below.

This week I plan on iterating the designs on each character more and adding more to the silhouette. I haven't done the colour scheme for the last male villain yet however I will post it into this post when I get it done.
