Last week I had just started hand painting my textures. As I was doing this I kept checking how the textures looked in 3ds Max and changing any problems as I went.

Here is where I was in terms of textures on Monday. I managed to get all of my textures painted and ready for Unreal by the end of Tuesday.

Here are my final textures sheets. I used 3 x 1024 for the main assets and 2 x 512 for the emissive lights I created in Unreal and the grass base.

I had some issues on Tuesday as the computer in the labs wouldn't allow me to create an new project in Unreal. However I figured out that it was because I had no space on my drive, so I promptly deleted the majority of stuff I didn't need anymore and moved onto Unreal.

My first task in Unreal was to make the emissive lights and a frosted glass texture. I thought I was really going to struggle on this part as engine isn't my strongest skill although I am proud of the work I managed to do.

Here is the evidence for my emissive lights:

I used this and then just changed the colour of the lights to what I wanted. I found that the darker colours like the blue shown don't shine as bright so I decided to use a lighter blue and a bright yellow.

After making the emissives I moved onto the frosted glass. I know from last years experience that glass is annoying to make in unreal as it's hard to make something reflective yet see through. I'm really pleased with the glass that I made as it does look like proper frosted glass.

After importing all my assets and materials into Unreal I then got to work on placing everything in the scene and making it look like my concept.

Here's my final scene in engine with lighting. I chose a night time scene in the end as the fairy lights look a lot better and more realistic in a darker scene.

I made the night scene by just changing the colours of the scene to dark blues and purples to create this effect.

I also made a daytime scene for some renders too.

The base I made for the scene is fairly simple however I took inspiration from Animal Crossing and how they make their grass.

This is a template I found of different Animal Crossing grass types which I took inspiration from. I used the first as the colour scheme however I changed the shapes into a hexagonal shape as that fite more with the shape of the base and the trees in the scene.

Here are some final renders of my scene:

And a final breakdown render:

Overall for this project I was on time and on task throughout the whole three weeks. I kept to my timeplan and organised my work and time really well. I feel as if my time management skills have really improved over the span of this course and finally in third year I'm really working hard and putting those skills to good use.

Here's my complete timeplan:
