Following the art book being sent off, I mentioned last week that I would be using the last three weeks of FMP to go over some of my designs and improve them using the feedback I've had from Georgia and my mentor.
I began working on one of my favourite characters from Japanese folklore first, the Jinmenken or human faced dog. For the last few weeks I didn't want to change any of the designs drastically however I did want to just have a more finalised design which would look appropriate for my portfolio.

Over the course of my final major project I've found greyscale paintings are an easier way for me to get lighting correct and push the form of the character. Because of this I plan to paint the final concepts of the characters in greyscale.
After the Jinmenken I worked on the Teke Teke character, as some of the greyscale sketches I had done worked really well, so I decided to go back and refine the design some more.

At the end of the week I began to work on some of the environment concepts I designed for the potion and weapons shops in the Japanese level of the game. I decided to make simple blockouts which I could then paint over.
The potion shop and weapons shop took the rest of the week to model and gather some decent renders. See next week for the paintovers!
